8 Tips For Saving Money On Your Wedding

Are you planning your wedding on budget? Most couples these days definitely are! Look for innovative ways to lower your wedding costs such as planning your wedding in the off season. Spring and summer wedding dates are more expensive and book up fast. Plan your wedding for wintertime instead. Though the weather may be frightful, your wedding can still be delightful … and cheaper too!

While most weddings take place on the weekend, you can save money by having a weekday wedding. A Wednesday wedding, for example, can cost about half of the same exact wedding held on a Saturday. While it may be more difficult to coordinate schedules, it’s certainly not impossible.

Though a sponsored wedding might seem tacky at first, you don’t need to sign a huge sign over the church door reading, “Bob & Sandy’s Wedding Sponsored by Joe’s Diner.” Choose subtle sponsors. For example, some companies may be willing to pay you to have a line of advertising on the bottom of your wedding invitations, a small sign on the cake table, or an imprint on matchbooks.

Food and drinks are a big portion of your wedding budget. However, you can cut down your catering costs by having a buffet rather than a sit down meal. Another option is to serve wine and soft drinks, instead of a full bar. If you’d like, you can have an “appetizers only” reception and serve appetizers, desserts and cocktails only.

Using silk flowers instead of fresh flowers will help reduce your wedding costs. Silk flowers are normally a little cheaper than fresh and you can re-use silk flowers for years to come. If you enjoy the fragrance of fresh flowers, you can have the bridal bouquet done in your favorite fresh flowers. Then use silk flowers for the centerpieces and other decorations.

Don’t overlook the possibility of having a daytime wedding if you are on a tight budget. Banquet halls and other popular reception venues charge significantly more for evening bookings. An afternoon wedding reception can be lovely and save you money. You don’t need to go into debt on your wedding day!

Beautiful wedding favors don’t have to be expensive. You can make your own wedding favors by placing almonds, candies, mints and other treats in small tins and other packages. Truly Wedding Favors offers a terrific collection of wedding favor bags, boxes and tins at cheap prices.

If you have looked at all other alternatives and still find you are over your wedding budget, consider cutting down your guest list. Though you want to invite everyone, it’s really not necessary. As long as those closest to you are at your wedding, you don’t need to include distant relatives and long lost friends. Since many vendors charge per head, you will reduce your wedding costs significantly by cutting down your guest list.
